Field Day 2019
ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. The members of the West Essex Amateur Radio Club, located in Essex Fells, NJ, get together on the fourth weekend of June. Like more than 35,000 other radio amateurs, we gather together at our club to operate the ham radio station W2EF. The contest is simply to contact as many other stations as possible and to learn to operate our radio equipment as a team.
This year we set up the station on Saturday June 22 and commenced operations at 2pm. During the ensuing 24 hours we had 161 contacts in 28 states and Canada. We operated in teams of two with one operating the station and the other logging the contacts into our computer.
By 2pm Sunday when we ended our operations. Everyone was exhausted but agreed that we had a great time with lots of camaraderie, good food, and many laughs. We are already looking forward to next year.
The Club members who participated during the weekend were K2DEG, W2FKG, KD2FSH, AC2EI, KC2WRQ, W2IBM, W2PNE, AC2NI, KD2QIP and W2BIZ.
